Thank you Ken for the late night entertainment with your films over a glass or five of wine and grass back in the 90s. I hope Ken’s memory lives on through this website and that your message reaches and helps others in their current or future situations. I am very sorry for your loss and my prayers go out to you.

I was recording via DVR sliders episodes when I ran into this particular one. I googled the name and I got this website. I am very sorry to hear about this, as I am sure it still must be tough. My heart goes out to Ken’s family and friends and I hope his memory lives on till the end of time. I believe he is in a better place looking down on all of us. I also believe those who pass before their time come back as angels to help us out. Let his positive energy be a driving force in what we do in ours. God Bless. Hanz 03/31/2005

I know it’s been some time since your loss, but I just viewed the “sliders” episode today. I enjoyed Ken’s acting, and was quite moved by your website. I think he would be proud. I lost my only remaining parent this past year, and wanted to let you know that I am including your family in my prayers tonight. Thanks for an uplifting tribute. God be with you always!

I came across this incredible story while watching Sci-fi. It wasn’t until the end of the Show “desert Storm” that I found out thay Ken had passed. Something of a shock really, I thought he was a very good actor. Best wishes to the family. Joshua “just some guy watching and enjoying Ken’s work”

After viewing “SLIDERS” today and seeing the tribute to your son at the end , I looked up his name on the internet and found your site . ( much to my dismay ) I felt heartsick as I realised what happened . I’m very sorry for your loss . He was so very young and had a brilliant future . He is such a beautiful gorgeous man , with the most soulful eyes I have ever seen . Even tho it has been almost 9 years since his death , it’s nice to see that you have kept his memory alive by maintaining this wonderful site for him . God Bless

Hello, I just saw the episode of sliders on television that was dedicated to Ken and really wanted to know more about him. Its a terrible thing for something so tragic to happen to such a talented young actor. It bought awareness to me as I have some friends in the industry and hope that something will hopefully change in the business. Thank you for bringing such things to the attention of the public.

I saw your sons show on sliders today and saw so much potential. 20 yrs ago I di comercials to pay for school and was on one day at a time 9 times between 1976-1979. But as someone who had 12lines and one page at the most I know we were not very important. I am sorry for your loss. Brian Pedersen MD

Such a tragedy. I just watched the show Sliders again and finally looked up your son’s name. Very sad and I am glad you did this page as a tribute to him. But he lives on in spirit and in your hearts.

I just finished watching the “Slider’s” episode “Desert Storm”. And the bit at the end – with the character of Cutter standing on the rock outcropping – dedicated to the memory of Ken Steadman caught my eye. I rushed to my computer to find out who this guy was – and came up with this tribute page. I want to say how blessed you were (and are) to have such a child in your life, regardless of how brief his time on earth. And I feel privledged to have caught a glimpsed of his art. Thank you.

I came across this site and unfortunate tradgedy while doing my own research for filming on blm property. I am a location manager in the business and I wish you and your family well as you continue to celebrate the life of your departed. Our business is probably the worst when it comes to safety and guidelines, and if taken seriously, half the productions going on would be cited and shutdown. I’m not sure it will never change, but Ken’s life will surely not be forgotten…and this website is proof. Best wishes.

I’ve watched Sliders for years (whenever TV networks here in Australia have been able to fit some episodes in) but I hadn’t seen this episode before. I searched for Ken’s name, as it seems many other people also did, and if all this is true that I have read on this website then I am shocked and very worried. I don’t know if this has been asked already, but has any legal action been taken again Universal/MCA? Surely an apology or compensation is/was in order here. I feel sorry for Ken and his family.

Hello to Ken’s parents. I used to work with Ken at a restaurant in Encino CA (L.A.) when he was an actor- from 1993-95 or so. I was 20 years old and kicked out of my apartment at the time. Ken , who barely knew me, had the heart to help me. He arranged for me to stay on his couch at the house he and his roommates rented. Then, Ken literally built me a room- He added a wall into the diningroom, added a door, a lock, etc. I ended up renting that room for a year. Ken was a very dedicated guy. I never forgot how he extended help to me like that. When I think back to that time, I see that the rest of us were young and out of control, but he was very focused. I will never forget him.

I used to watch Sliders until a few months before this accident. I send my condolances and sincere prayer that Ken’s family has healed from this terrible ordeal. I have a strong belief in God and believe that he is now in heaven praising and rejoicing in the Lord’s eternal love. Peace to the family and all who love him.

I was watching the “Sliders” episode today, September 20, 2004, which had Ken’s last acting moments. At the end of the show, they dedicated the show to Ken. I didn’t know who he was, but now I certainly do. I feel this is one of THE most tragic stories which I’ve been exposed to. I truly feel a great deal of sorrow for this man’s family, as he seems to have been a wonderful person who was well loved by all who knew him. I am a father, my son is 8 years old, and I can’t imagine how I would feel if he died. It must be 1,000 times worse to lose someone who lived such a full life and gave so much to those around him. Ken’s family, although I don’t know them personally, has my deepest, heart-felt sympathy.

Hi Lisa, Carl and Shane- I hope you remember me, as well as my family as a very good friend of Keith’s. I’ve come to this website many times over the past few years. Each time, I read what other people have written, I’m overcome by memories and then I never end up signing the guestbook. I thought of him again today and came to your website. I sure miss him…. the late phone calls back and forth seeing what the other was up to. His loud laugh and huge smile that I could feel across the phone could always change my day around. My family all loved him so much. I could go and on and on here, but I won’t. I love thinking about him at unexpected times…. as even that, always makes me smile. I hope you are well. Lots of love.

What can I say that hasent already been said here. I feel for you, lossing your son is one of the most devistating things that can happen to a parent. I lost my son to a drunk driver and it still hurts after 5 years. Keep strong, and know that your son touched so many people with his talent.

I like so many others having watched Sliders decided to look up your sons name on the internet. I was very sad to read what I did. I can not begin to imaigine how terrible that fatal day was. Your son was very gifted and I am sure he would have gone on to bigger and better things if he wasnt so tragically taken from you.
Guest Book Entry from William Wood on 6/19/2004 2:09:00 PM
Like so many others I was made aware of your tragedy when I viewed the fateful episodes memorial statemant. While it’s obvious those responsible have no concience to draw from I have to wonder who was responsible for including the brief yet tasteful scene of him on the rocks at the end of the episode. I have never seen a tribute to a fallen star that has captured my attention the way your sons has. In spite of the fact that the intent of the “in memory of” statement was probably meant merely as an acknowledgement and was not a sincere reflection of the grief they should have shared with all who knew Ken.

I was watching the episode “Desert Storm” of Sliders, when I reached the end of the show and saw “In Loving Memory of Ken Steadman.” I was wondering why it was dedicated to him so I did a quick search on the internet. I stumbled upon this site and read what had happened. It’s a trajedy to see someone just starting to reap their rewards of all the hardwork they had put in, when all of sudden it is all taken away. It was not just taken away from Steadman, but also from the people that loved him. I feel for him and hope we all can learn from this.

My son and I are long time Sliders fans. This last Fri we caught the show ending in memorium to Ken Steadman. We ran a Google search to find out who Ken Steadman was and found this site. We are dismayed to find out about the tragic accident. As a dad, having a son of my own, I can imagine what you have gone through. Our thoughts are with you.
Guest Book Entry from Charlie Solak on 6/18/2004 10:22:00 AM
I really loved to watch the show Sliders. Your son did a great job of acting. The part he played was totally opposite the person he was. I can’t imagine your grief. I lost my Father at 10 and never recovered. I have two daughters and I can only think about them through Jesus Christ. I could not sustain the loss of either of them. Bless you and I am truly sorry, Charlie Solak

I had no idea that your son had passed away,I am VERY sorry for your loss. The strange thing is, I hadn’t heard of the accident. But as I watched, I got a very strange feeling as I saw the scene where he was driving the buggy.I remember thinking” His face looks like he’s done this a million times”And for some reason that image stuck with me through the entire episode. At the end where they dedicated the movie,I didn’t know at first who they were talking about. Then they shoed Ken walking out on the ledge.I thought how beautiful he looked,Almost like a knight after battle looking out over the feild. He looked almost as if he knew he was looking out at the world to say goodbye. So in hopes I was wrong, I looked up his name and found this site. I Feel incredible sadness for this person I never even knew. I cannot imagine your pain.I hope in time it will ease.

I was watching the episode of sliders during the filming of witch the accident happened. I saw at the end a note, in memory of Ken steadman, I desided to look it up and see why the episode was dedicated to him. I find that it is a shame what happend to your son, and will from now on definately look-up more of these “in memory of” things when I see them on an tv show or a movie. TV is good and entertaining, but hardly worth human lives.

I cannot tell you how much this has saddened me. Such a talent did not go to waste. He has made many people happy with his unique charisma and talent. You should be very proud to have a son like him. I saw the Sliders “Desert Storm”, with the dedication to Ken at the end of the episode, for the first time this week. I enjoyed his acting in this role and other roles on Baywatch. A good actor taken before his time…

Today I saw the episode “Desert Storm” on Sliders. I instantly took notice to the actor with the beautiful crystal blue eyes and said wow he can play Jesus. What beautiful eyes he has. Not knowing who he was was until after the end credits it read “In Loving Memory of Ken Steadman”. So I decided to look him up on the internet and came across this website. I’d like to give my condolence to Ken Steadman’s family and friends. He was a very talented actor and I enjoyed his performance on slider thoroughly! Wishing you Peace and Love. May God bless you. He is still with you in Spirit!

I just finished watching a rerun of the tv show Sliders and saw the last work of your son. The memorial at the end of the show was for Ken, so I looked up his name and found this site. It is always tragic to loose a love one, as I have suffered the loss of a sister and father, and wonder how one can recover from such pain. That simple memorial for Ken in 1996 seemed by me in 2004 moved me. I offer you my prayers, and ask for your prayers for me and my family. The death is something that will happen, but it does not make it any easier to accept. I hope we will all one day be reunited in His Kingdom

The rerun of the Sliders episode “Desert Storm” aired today on SciFi. I had never seen it before, having missed several of the original episodes when the show initially ran. At the end it stated “in memory of Ken Steadman”, so I decided to check on the internet to see who he was. I came across this web site, and after reading that he was killed during the making of that show, I felt just aweful. I never knew that actors could get injured or killed on a set. I always assumed that there were regulations and strict safety codes. What a tragedy. I am truly sorry for your loss. Thank you for opening my eyes to the dangers that actors and actresses take to entertain the masses. I will never look at an actor/actress the same again.

I only learned of your lose today 2-13-2004, While watching Sliders. I lost a nephew at age 13 several years ago. May God give you peace and comfort always. Nancy

So sorry to hear of your loss. On the other side of the coin, I lost my father in an auto accident and it’s a shame, although I trust your son is in heaven, watching over you and the people he loved…they say nothing is worse than a parent losing a child and I’m just so sorry that you had to endure that. Your son will not be forgotten and while I have only been privileged to see one of his films, your site has encouraged me to check out more of his work–perhaps if nothing else his love and talent will inspire a renewed interest for more of us. God Bless.

I stumbled across your site whilst surfing and was instantly saddened by your loss. Not only is it the deep heart wrenching loss of a son, but also a loss of unique art. Every actor is not only canvas and painter but also the tools and experience that always finds a way to shine through in their endevours. I am an avid fan of Brandon Lee who also lost his life at a young age, but I’m more happy than sad because of this. He lives on stronger than just memories, he lives on in a moving tapestry that can be passed on and shared with an infinate number of admirers. Brandon has a personal and eternal spot in my heart and I never knew him. Because I have found this site your son will have spot standing next to him. Peace to you and yours.

I was shocked.. your son was very talented. It is very disheartening to learn of your sons tragic death and the efforts of Universal/MCA to cover it up. I wish you and your family well. Truely sorry about your son. I saw the episode when it first came out. Had no idea.. It was just shown again today on Sci-Fi and I saw the memory sign to him at the end and it peeked my curiosity. It’s always hard to loose a child, or a closed loved one. Accident or no Accident, illness or not, murder, suicide, natural causes it’s still hard. Ken was truely a talented actor and just a beautiful man! I didn’t even know he was gone until recently. A great loss to all. What a blessing he was able to realize more of his dream than most people do in three times his years. Thank you for sharing his life through this web site.

i had to look up “who was ken steadman?” on ask.com when i saw an episode of sliders. i didn’t watch that show very much, but i had never heard of him or his death. at the end of the episode was a memorial line. i decided to look him up. after all, he did a good job as the villain and he looks so modelish it would be unlikely i would recognize him again against the array of good looking actors out there (he reminded me of Strider in “lord of the rings.” wish ken was still acting for us. dave

Recently I rented ‘I Like To Play Games’ and was very impressed with your son’s charisma and acting ability. Then I chanced upon this memorial page while looking for more of his credits and was dumbstruck to learn of his accident when what I expected to find was a long and continuing list of his accomplishments. As the father of 3 I understand some of what you felt at his loss (without having been there myself I can’t really imagine the full impact).

I worked with Ken at a restaurant in Los Angeles for over two years. I came back for a visit just weeks after his death. I was crushed when I had been told what had happened. Through the grapevine I had heard of his succes and was saddened to see it end too quickly. I have a lot of nice memories of Ken. So, when he popped into my head today, I looked him up on the web to see if there was any new news of his untimely death. That search led me to this lovely web site. I was so disappointed that I didn’t find out in time, I would have liked to have attended his services. I would have really liked to have met the people responsable for helping him become the Ken I was priviledged enough to know, if only for a short time.

Believe it or not, just learned today of your son’s very untimely death at a much too young age of 27. I vaguely remember your son acting in a few movies & TV shows I viewed in years past. I was not a “Sliders” fan until I saw an episode (Not Desert Storm) in the SciFi Channel. When I was looking at the write up on Sliders on the IMDB.com website there it mentioned your son’s death on the “trivia” link. After almost 6 years, I know the pain of loosing your child is not lessened. I will think about you in my prayers.

Hi Lisa, Thanks for your note. One of my great college memories is when Keith took a couple of us guys flying. We chipped in for gas and he borrowed someone’s plane and we took off from the Pullman airport. My first time flying in a small plane and I was a little nervous. I remember thinking to myself..”What the heck I am doing!” “Can Steadman actually fly a plane?” “He’s only 18!” But Keith was first rate pilot, and he took his flying pretty seriously. He only scared the heck out us a couple of times 🙂 Thank you again for your note and for your site. It’s good to be able to go there and see the positive impact Keith had on so many lives. It’s also helpful for folks like me who haven’t seen him in years, to find out about his many accomplishments. You must be very proud of him 🙂 Take care, Ron

I just saw Ken in the “Baywatch” episode, which I had seen many times before. I thought, what a great actor. I thought, this guy must be famous now, so I searched for his name. I am very saddened to find out of his passing. I am so sorry to hear this. To his parents–God bless you for making this page, and may you be comforted daily.

I knew Ken as Keith at WSU. He was one of the guys of 4th Floor Streit Hall. I was unaware of his death until recently, and I am saddened by the news. I remember Keith as a hard core ROTC guy, and I thought that he would end up in the military full time. Many days were spent chiding Keith about his crew cut 🙂 I have many good memories of Keith and it is comforting to know that he followed his dreams and made it. We were a tight knit group on the 4th floor and many friendships were forged. He will be missed but not forgotten.

I saw the DESERT STORM episode several years ago . Today they re-ran it on cable here in Singapore where I live. I remember wondering about the dedication at the end when first I saw it. That was before I had a computer. So, today when I caught the episode on cable , I searched the web and came across this great tribute to your son. It’s a few days before what would have been his 33rd birthday. That’s also my age . I’m sorry for your loss and wish you peace .

I accidentally discovered this website while just entering my maiden name – Steadman. My family is from Canada but we came to the states in the 70’s and lived in southern California. I was shocked and saddened by the loss of this handsome young man who shares the same name as my father, whose health is failing. I will now also remember this other Ken Steadman – Ken Steadman the actor, a very handsome young man. (I had the acting bug in high school also, but did not have the talent!) His family can be proud that he followed his dream to act as it is definitely not as easy as it appears. I am glad that I entered my maiden name in the search for now I know of this Ken Steadman. I cannot imagine the loss of one’s son and my deepest condolescences to his family. Heaven must have needed this beautiful angel. -Respectfully, Cindy (Steadman) Thomas

Well, while browsing FilePile, I came across a list of notable people who died during the 90s. I quickly browsed through most of the list, but that name caught my eye (and it had Sliders in parenthesis). So I did a Google search and I came across this page. Sorry for your loss. It is terrible that it happened. However, after reading the synopsis of the episode’s plot online, I actually remember that episode of Sliders. I’m rather surprised, since I’m not a big Sliders fan. Had no idea he was killed. Bummer. BTW, the picture you have on your site is the only one I could find of him. Do you have another picture that we can use to identify (with) him?

I was with Ken on location and watched Mahoney with him the night before he died. 15 min before he died we were to have lunch together. This accident made me Question alot of my own life and if I wanted to be associated with the coldness of this business. My heart aches for your loss and I feel we all lost a friend a son a brother a lover. He was at peace insantly. I know this, So let us hope we can all find the peace in knowing he was here with us for a short time, but it was as he lived passionate.

Keith/Ken and I were in the same class at school and, for whatever reason, he popped into my head today. It saddens me to think that anybody I grew up with died tragically and too soon. I lost a stepchild and know that the death of a child is something that you always remember and, perhaps, never really get over. I’m certain, however, that those of us who knew Keith/Ken will remember him always.

Dear Friends: I just finished watching Sliders and as the others noted before me, from there I was introduced to your son, his work and your loss. I am terribly sorry for your loss and your sadness, but I commend you for your efforts to make changes so that others will be safe in the future. This is a positive way to proceed in your remembering Ken, by helping others to become more aware. I did not know Ken except from this one show and now your site, but I will now keep him in my heart, to be sure. He will live with me always. Peace be with you~ Nancy Langston

I am sorry that I did not write sooner, but I did not Know Keith had a website. It was truly enspiring to be able to make a movie with your son, every time we tried to do a shoot I would always mess up because of Ken’s jokes, and smile’s. Every time he would come to work every body would smile at him and aknowlege him as the person he was. At times I would feel sick on the shoots, but as soon as I saw Ken he would come up to me and make me smile. That’s what gave me the courage to go on. I truly miss him as a friend, as a business partner and as an admirable man, that he truly was. I never got the chance to thank you Mr. and Mrs. Steadman so I say to you thank you and God bless.

I recently picked up a DVD that your son was the lead in. I came online to find out what other credits he had to see more. This is the first site I found. Oh, how I cried. They say peoples’ souls travel. As a follower of the Earth Religion, Pagan, I truly believe it. When I first saw Ken in the film I would have sworn (!) that it was my friend, Michael, which freaked me out as that was his character’s name. His mannerisms, looks, body shape, voice, the fact that he jousts (and how many men do that?)… everything is practically identical! The legal system is the pits. I’ve also lost a dear friend and the truth was never discovered nor were remedies ever made. I empathize with your loss. It’s been a few years now, yet I know the pain will never go away…only lessen, but he will always be with you and his loved ones. Goddess Bless.

My sympathies to everyone. I am an actor in Toronto, Canada and I just happened to come across this web site by accident. I’m glad I did. I’ve always tried to be aware of my surroundings on set but sometimes get lackadaisical (sp?) and let my guard down when pressed for time, or whether it’s just blind trust for the crew which surrounds you because you assume they’re professional and nothing can happen to you. This story reminds me to never let that guard down, to always be aware and to ask questions. I am truly sorry for your loss. My prayers to you all.

This needs to be told so that people can make a change the Laws all over that let the movie industry and other companies know they do NOT get away with Murder! That is bascily what has happened.. The true people who are responsible for the death of this Young man will never be held accountable because of a BAD law put in place many years ago. This law needs to be changed and only we the people can change this! This should NOT be covered under worker’s compensation! That let’s these heartless people get away with this. This was perventable! This should have been prevented! AND because of some ignorant people who did not do their jobs We lost a brilliant young man and who knows how many more that can hide under this law! No loss of life is worth a “Movie” Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you! You did a wonderful job!

  3. Thank you for maintaining this site. Lovely to maintain Ken’s memory and re-introduce us to his work we can now catch on connected and streaming TV. This is also a good reminder of the importance of workplace safety and how hard it is to get answers and justice after workplace injuries and death. Much appreciated!

  5. I got into Sliders during the 2020 lockdown as a TV channel was showing episodes back to back. Saw this episode and the in memorium at the end and decided to find out what had happened to him. Tragic and sad. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

  6. I was watching a show Ken was in and googled to see what other projects he worked on. Sadly I learned you lost him too soon.

As a parent who has lost a child,
I just wanted to let you know he is remembered and I personally will certainly remember him.

He made a great mark on film and I
    am sure on many hearts.

  7. I came to this site after seeing it talked about on a JoBlo video on Sliders on youtube. I am so sorry about your loss and know even 24 years does not heal the pain of a lost child. I lost a brother on Christmas day when I was a teenager and my mother was never the same. I hope some kind of justice comes your way and events liek this eventually cause change in the industry. I live in So Cal and have been in the high desert many times off roading and can tell you it is fun but must be respected as it can be dangerous too > peace to you and your family- Mike

  8. Like thousands of other people I am a collector of B-movies and I just ordered myself a copy of “Beach Babes From Beyond”. When I researched the film further I was happy to find out Ken was in it because I’ve appreciated other work of his in the past. Can’t wait to watch it. I don’t know what else to say but thank you for running this website, Ken is loved and missed by many.

  9. I was shocked to notice an “in memory of Don Steadman” at the end of the sliders episode that took his life. Im.truly sorry for the familys loss of their truly talented and up and coming son.He never made it past his Saturn return putting him in the company some of the most talented artists ever. After suffering a recent loss of my wife of 22 yrs(Karen lynn holihan-carducci) i felt compelled to send my condolances as i lost her due to neglegence of a hospital…im truly sorry

  11. I just watched the episode of Sliders. I am curious what the cast member had to say. Seriously. It looked like the filming of the story was finished because there was a finale. Shocked is the right word.

  13. Even in 2021 kens memory and his story are still important. I have friends in the entertainment industry, and one of them worked with someone who knew ken. They related the story of his tragic accident, and my friend, in turn, relayed the story to me. The friend and I had lost a dear friend in an almost identical accident, though our friend was riding for fun and ken for work.

  14. My point is, there are still people remembering, talking about, emoting about, celebrating and enjoying kens life and work. And there are people still talking about and questioning his accident and what can be done to prevent another tragic loss. What a powerful testament to your son.

  15. Sending some love your way. Enjoyed Ken’s acting, his energy was grabbing, he really stole some scenes in Sliders. I’ve had 3 friends who’ve been seriously injured on movie and television productions. Safety on set is getting better, but at a slower rate than I’m happy with. Will be spreading some positivity and love in Ken’s memory 💕

  16. I was watching the re-runs once again but this was the first time seeing the memory. I googled Ken and was surprised to see I have seen him in other things over the years and never knowing he was gone. I feel privileged to have seen his work and am glad he had time to share his talent with us. Rest in peace Ken Steadman.

  19. Hey just wanna say so sorry about your loss , all this time later and people still are invested in his memory. I am 35 writing this , 8 years older than your son when he passed and Ken looks such top shape ( easily would whip me !) He woke up from this worlds dream that day to another. Just like when you pass in a dream you wake up , I believe your son has woken up from this world into gods next phase. You’ll see him again.

  21. Parents like yourselves are a rare find in this time that we live in. I was watching a rerun of the sliders episode that your son was cast in. I am truly sorry for your loss of a bright energetic man. I have had a loss recently and had to pursue a credit that was on the show about your son. Memory will keep him alive in the minds of people who care. Long after the ones that tried to hide the truth.
