Welcome

Ken Steadman

This web site is about Ken Steadman, a 27-year-old professional actor, who was killed while guest starring for Universal/MCA Television during the filming of their television series “Sliders”. It is not just about his death. It is about what he stood for, what he accomplished, about how much he gave and how in the end the system failed him. It is about what we as parents expect when a tragedy like this occurs and what really happens. It is the story of our son, who we are immensely proud of, and whose death has shaken us to our foundations. Despite the fact that this is incredibly hard to write it is important to us and we think for Ken to make his story known.

It is our hope his death will not just become a statistic but bring to light changes that need to be made so that the unnecessary death of others does not occur. It is the hope that those in charge of safety and those whose job it is to enforce safety laws will in the future do their jobs and not just go through the motions. It is our hope that the movie and television industry will put more value on actors lives rather than what will save production dollars. Those responsible for ignoring the safety rules and trying to shift the blame need to understand that their actions resulted in our son’s death and the most intense grief any parent can bear. It is impossible to explain to anyone who has not lost a child how deeply and intense the feeling of loss and grief goes. Add to that the frustration, anger, disbelief, and hopelessness a parent feels when they know the death was preventable and no agency or organization will do anything. They did nothing because they don’t have time or because Universal/MCA Television is too big, too powerful, and has too much money for them to go up against. This also destroyed a lot of our belief in the “system”.

Remembering Ken Steadman
Remembering Ken Steadman

Thank you for visiting. I have been a fan of Ken Steadman since the 90s, and one day in 2016 I discovered the original website, created by his parents to communicate his story, had went offline. Luckily, I was able to retreive it and recreate it here using snapshots from the Archive.org Wayback Machine. A lot of work and detail went into creating the original site, and I didn’t want to see it lost, so I did this to prolong the memory of Ken and keep his story alive. What happened to him was unfortunate and handled unjustly. The original site had over 650,000 visitors since 2002, and I hope this site reaches many more.

– RIP Ken. You are missed.

  1. I watched the film “I Like to Play Games” for the first time in 2019 and decided to research Ken Steadman. I was interested to see if he was still actively involved in the film industry and was saddened to read about his death in general and especially the manner of his death. It would have been interesting to see how his career would have progressed.

  5. He was a handsome guy with the promising future. No words to comfort the parents and no time to erase the loss. Deeply saddened by his passing, so early and abruptly.
I was watching one of his films lately and was astonished how beautiful this young man was, and i tried to do dome research to know what this cutie might have looked by now when he is in his fifties. Unfortunately, he had never even reached 30….

  6. Dearest Lisa Delaney & Kenny Steadman🙏🙏parents of the beautiful actor Ken Steadman. My Sincere Heartfelt Sympathy in the Loss of your son. I learned of this tragic loss today from my classmate, Harry Bowen, at OHS, Westport, Wa & my sister Henry Struble. I am Josephine Struble, classmate Of Danny Koenig. That too is a tragic loss that has never left my memory of our 18th summer & the end of innosence as we knew it. I have often prayed for you Lisa & wondered how you were doing . I never knew anything about your life after that tragic day on the beach in 1965, where I frolicked in the surf on my horse, picked fragrant wild strawberries in the sand dunes & dug the decadent Pacific Ocean Razor clams. Also spent many a days piper boarding & learning to drive. My youth vanished the day Danny drowned & the picture of you standing on the beach left me 💔I remember you Kenny as a tall, sweet, kind boy. Your son is a lovely combination of his pretty momma & handsome father😍 May God Bless you both. You’re in my prayers🙏🙏josephine

  9. Like so many others, I came to this site when I did some research on Ken. I read his name in many credits of 90s TV and got interested. I’m sad, he’s no longer there, because he really had talent. Some more roles and I’m sure he would have made it to the big screen. All I can say is, that he will stay with us in all the things he did. My thoughts are with you.

P.S. I know, Ken was featured in a Babylon 5 episode. Can someone tell me, which one?
